Heh. Cute. Thanks for the laugh--I needed it.
The thing is, though, I live in a college town in the middle of Southeast Ohio. The only jobs here are in schools, nursing homes, or the service industry. Coal mines are almost all closed. Construction workers are all laid off. Mechanics are laid off. Computer technicians are a dime a dozen. The few factories we had moved to Mexico or China. I could move, but my wife has a good job. Actually, considering my level of education, I have a pretty good job. The problem is it's tip-based. No steady paycheck means I can't buy things on credit. Actually, I certainly can buy things on credit, but I'm not dumb enough to buy something I may not be able to pay off. I could totally afford a new Hyundai right now, but I couldn't make the payment on time every month. To me, that means I can't buy it. I've learned better than to pay a payment on a used car--you always get hosed.
I'm normally satisfied knowing I work for a living. It's just sometimes I see the people who live in HUD housing for free, get their electric bills subsidized, get enough food stamps to feed an army, get cash money every month, and get $1500 car repair allowances every year. Also, they have really nice stuff from Rent-to-Own that they never intend on paying off. And they somehow have money to order pizza two or three times a week. Not enough to tip me a dime, of course, but enough to pay a $2 delivery fee instead of driving their lazy asses over to get it. All because they can pump out lots of kids, and are so fat they're "disabled." Maybe if they had a job, they'd lose a few pounds.
Anyway, this is not a political/social forum, and as such I'll stop griping about the woes of living in the redneck ghetto.
