Wait. I just caught what you're saying. I assume this means I'll have to pull the tranny to get it out? Surely it isn't OK to be in there. When the flywheel fails, do the teeth just disintegrate, or can they break off?
OK, so since it looks like I'm going to be doing major surgery here, what should I look for in my 4-speed tranny to tell if it's in good enough condition to put back in? Keeping in mind, of course, that I've never seen the guts of a transmission. It leaks lube like a SOB, and has definitely been run dry a few times.
Alternately, who wants to take my car as partial trade for another suitable delivery car? Surely somebody's finished with their project Chevette and can't wait to start another one, right?
