Clarification, to the clarification
I did mention horsepower in the first posting. My mistake.
I certainly didn't mean to confuse maximum horsepower and fuel milage.
You can have a good combination of the two however, because frankly, there is rarely a good reason to waste fuel. An engine achieving maximum efficiency is going to do a pretty good job at both power and mileage.
Just like todays fuel injected computer controlled wonders.
( as long as you can afford to fix the damn things when they break. )
