Hello Gang !
Er, ahem.
I *sure* don't want to rain on anyones parade here, but the incredible disinformation continues.
As someone who *DOES* have experience in the area of carburetion, ( 30+ years, own my own carb business, and probably am responsible for all of the major modifications that were "invented" concerning racing Chevette carbs, and certainly know a thing or two about fuel mileage. ) I can assure you that I don't answer many questions, or comment on many posts simply because I can't take the time to bring people up to speed. It would just take too long.
But ( not to irritate anyone ) I agree with NOTNIP's comments this time. And other times for that matter. Aloha, you even "modified" your comments by claiming that you changed the choke setting. ( why not fix it in the first place ? )Bottom line, once a carb is "set", it's not going to "get better fuel mileage over time" unless YOU make changes or drive differently. (assuming same climate, elevation, etc. )
I rarely read anything here that is accurate concering carburetion, and don't comment simply because I don't have time. I hope people appreciate this, and don't have a hissy fit claiming that "well anyone could write that, back it up".
Just like the episode of 24 where the President asks Jack Bauer: " I don't know if I can trust you", and he replies..." will all due respect Madam President.... ask around".
Ask around.
Tinkering and testing is one thing guys, but try to understand the basics of carburetion, ignition, and how engines work, do a little internet research ( of scientific facts, not what someone who knows little posts somewhere ), and this subject will become easily understood.
Bottom line, NOTHING will improve on stock carburetion for fuel mileage. Nothing will improve on fuel mileage over a stock factory cam.
But then, I was young once, and figured that the billion dollar engineers at the controls who designed and built cars were not as smart as I was at one time also.
By the way, my carbs made more horsepower on the dyno than ANY OTHER carbs ever installed. Really pissed off the in house "carb guy", 'cause it was one hell of a lot more than his "design".
And it only took about 4-6 hours of modifications to do it.
And now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming......
