Ah forgot to mention, that was with a ported out intake. It really depends on your setup. Regardless, you are going to notice a major difference in how the car performs. It doesn't take much, the carb provides a lot of kick. Unless somebody has the official numbers for a Chevette specifically, all anyone here can do is guess. 8-10 is generally what most cars running the 32/36 get on average. So the percentage of change will differ depending on the vehicle.
Actually, the fuel efficiency was pretty bad at first, the choke was new and wound tight for winter use. I was getting a low 25 MPG average in the city compared to the 34 MPG I had before the upgrades. Things got better with time after a minor adjustment with the mileage increasingly getting better and I'm getting a soild 31 MPG in the city.
NOT NIP, we have been over this many times, there is a difference between city and highway mileage. An approximation to make my life easier by saying "Almost 50 MPG in highway mileage" and your claim that I said "60 MPG" are not the same thing. Under good circumstances highway mileage in the high 40's is quite possible, especially using hypermiling techniques. If a person can get an SUV to do high 30's in the city, high 40's on the highway is quite possible. Unless you have hypermiled a 5-speed Chevette and are speaking from personal experience of doing so, you can claim nothing.
