Well, fast idle speed is ~2400 rpm. I can't imagine that 6000 when not in gear is out of the question. In fact, I'm thinking I saw a calculation somewhere of rpm at 60 mph with 13" tires being somewhere around 4500 rpm. I could double check that if you really wanted, or I could just email you Calvin and Hobbes comics for you to giggle at.
Note that I didn't say the engine would survive. That's why flooring the accelerator in neutral is generally not recommended.
