Update...

Well, when I went to the hardware store, I bought M12x1.00 and M12x1.25 nuts. It is definitely not M12x1.00. I put the M12x1.25 on, and it seemed to thread on about 1/4 inch, but I couldn't get it to go any further without turning the ballstud. Of course, it wouldn't go on far enough that I could get a wrench on the ballstud itself, so it might actually fit. I'll try an M12x1.5 tomorrow if I can find one and get back to you. I'm sure somebody, somewhere, sometime is going to google for this, so I may as well throw it out there. I can't be the only dumbass to have lost his.
