It is strange, A lot of us good drivers like RWD, and we have so little to choose from. Unless you want a BMW or something BLECH! I guess we are the minority and unlistened to. I do almost all highway driving so a hybrid would be useless, they may have their place but I wonder what a cantankerous costly thing they will become when they start to age. I can bet they won't survive 20 years, and for sure not going to fix that by yourself, and of course we all know about Japanese parts prices.
No, I could open the hood on the Mustang and not only SEE the engine, I could recognise the parts on it! WOW an alternator where you could change it, Plugs too, and the starter, right there. I think they copied the 1969 too closely in the design...because access is pretty good, and the design is solid... well, for a modern car, I think the Chevette weighs more (steel) A lot of things on it impressed me though. Sneak out and have a look at one.
The milage is good too, (V-6) and styling wise although it took a little getting used to, it didn't look like every other car that now seems to be styled by the guy that makes things out of twisting baloons at the comunity hall. It is about the right size for us, The crown vic is too big for me, If I wanted a car that size I would have gotten a late 90's impala or waited for the G8 from GM, but I hear the milage is going to suck on that one. Some things don't change... and great timing GM. Besides I don't want an Australian car.
In the end there is only one problem..
There is indeed nothing that will replace the Chevette. Only substitutes
