When the '80 4door hits the yard by me I'll do some experamenting of my own since it wont cost me anything but time... I'll pull the alt off of it and take it around to cars/trucks/vans that are likely to have more powerful alts... if I find some that match up I'll pull them and then test fit them on the chevette.
I've done some research on the subject. I believe we have a ton of options its just making sure those options match up.
To quote something I wrote that I'm pulling out of my archives... The part numbers are acdelco and the searching mentioned was all done on acdelco.com
"My car is an 81. The only alt it list is 334-2142 this is used on several cavaliers (and some other cars too). I randomly picked an 1985 CHEVROLET CAVALIER TYPE-10 L4 2.0L. From there I found the 94amp alt option. Searched its part number and found 89 blazers. Their 105 amp option had the mounts setup slightly different so I backed up. Searched the cavalier's 78amp option's part number 321-357. Found a crap ton of cars use that alt. Top of the list being the 91 blazer 6.2l diesel. So I check the alternators avalible for it and find 334-2283. The ACdelco part number for the alt I linked to above.
Stock:
The 105amp for the Diesel Blazer (and a ton of other vehicles): "
The blazer alt is a slightly larger cased CS130 alt. The CS130s are much more reliable than our old 10SI alts. I think it will fit and the only way to be sure is to try.
