my gasket kit had two little strips that looked like pipe cleaners (the little bendy things that kids used to play with in kindergarden). i think that is where it goes. I watched a video of an engine rebuild (not chevette) and they put silicone around the rear main and then placed the little strips on the sides leaving some sticking out the top. then guided the rear main into place, torqued it down and pushed the strips the rest of the way in!
