I remember eating a lot of horsemeat, especially in former communist countries in Europe in my travels while in the service. It was good, and more importantly for people from that part of the world, affordable. As of recent, friends of mine from Switzerland used to love having affordable horsemeat to eat, but now that has changed. Beef and chicken were and will always be too expensive over there. Historically, horses were one of the first animals be be hunted and consumed, thousands of years before cattle.
Some people should pick up a damn book before climibing on the bandwagon and passing ludicrous legislation. There is no good reason to eradicate horse slaughter. "The horse is more majestic and prettier than other animals so we shouldn't eat it?" What a bunch of bull.
