That's it in a nut shell Nana.....
What needed to be done in this country was to apply the laws already in effect, and clean up the existing slaughter houses that did not comply.
Many were run badly and animals suffered greatly in transport and at slaughter..... but the bleeding hearts only saw a quick short term solution to having their touchy feelie delicate sensibilities soouthed....they closed the entire industry down instead of regulating the existing one.....
Not having the foresight to see the impact of their decision...... Helpless domesticated horses turned loose in the desert (and other environs) to starve to death or die from lack of water.... or to die in someones backyard from neglect for lack of money to feed them....
