Hey all - well we got some great news today!!!!
Richard is still not out of the woods but he is sure heading in the right direction!! He is down to 40% oxygen right now ( it was at 65% last night). He is off the paralytics completely but still under heavy sedation. He is off the super-robo bed and is moved to a lesser-robo bed that still rolls him from side to side. They are hoping to have him in a regular bed in a couple of days. He has been taking the weaning off very well and hopefully may be brought back to conscious soon as well. We did not get a new x-ray update (they did take them but we just did not get told anything) but the last set showed the lungs starting to clear up just a little.
There was a young man who just walked out of here after fighting this nastibess for the last month - this hospital has dealt with many cases in the last few months and have seen some that are worse than Richard (not many as he was pretty damn bad) but they have had a 100% recovery rate.
Anyway - spent the day in and out of the hospital, got Nancy eating good, picked up a portable DVD player and some movies for Nancy now, and for Richard when he is awake and stuck in a hospital room (it should distract him for a couple minutes right? ). We did some other shopping and just some good walking around. Nancy is in good spirits and getting well rested - we need to get her ready for the Richard conscious-recuperation period.
It sure has helped to get the good news on Richard and we just wait for more. Any setbacks he has had have been minor and have not affected his overall progress.
Thanks everyone for the wonderful emails, texts, and calls - they have been SUCH a comfort to Nancy and I have read her everything I see or get. I am trying to keep in touch with everyone as best I can - if I missed calls please forgive me. I don't always have reception in the hospital or I am on another call. I will try to get back to everyone as I can!!!
