George Ray or Wray was born probably in the 1740's in Virginia. There were Wrays or Rays in Southampton co and Elizabeth City co and Your co Va in the 1740's. I am trying to find who this George Ray was and who his parents were. I think he might have left that part of Virginia and went to Brunswick co Va about 1769 where he bought land with a Henry Yarbrough. I think he was married to a Rachel. He received a land grant in 1771 in Brunswick co Va. I am not sure this is the same George Wray or Ray but I think it is. He went to Wilkes co Ga in 1786. Any info about the Ray or Wray family in Va in the 1760's and 1770's would be appreciated. Thanks, Ross
