I have been told that I am related to Betsy Step and Chief Tom Step(Nottoway Indian) and I am trying to prove it. I have found her on the 1808 Southampton VA Indian census but can't find her anywhere else. Chief Tom Step served in the French/Indian War.
My grtx4 grandmother was Rachel Seahorse Step and I have hearsay that Betsy was her mother and Chief Tom Step was her father. I would like to prove this. Rachel was born abt 8 years or so after this census was taken.
If anyone can shed some light on Betsy or Tom, Please contact me. I appreciate this deeply.
