St. Luke's Church is located in or near Smithfield, Virginia (home of the famous Smithfield hams), on the southern side of the James River, in the Isle of Wight Co. There is a toll bridge near there, going over to Newport News- or at least from the map, it looks that way. I have quite a bit of info on this church, sent to me by another researcher, as our mutual ancestor, Rev. Robert Bracewell, was the fouth minister of that church. His son, Richard Bracewell/Braswell and wife, Sarah (not sure of her maiden name) had a daughter, Ann Braswell, who married Matthew Strickland, Jr., etc. etc., down to my gg grandmother, Tamar Strickland, who married William Gilbert. Not that you wanted to know all of that. What I'm looking for is where William Gilbert's father, Edward Gilbert, came from originally. You need any more info, let me know.
