I recently learn that my mothers grandmother was Maude S Reynolds born in Petersburg, Virginia and her parents were from Petersburg as well. Maude S Reynolds was born in Petersburg but i have not been able to determine when. I have not been able to find out additional information on John or Rebecca Reynolds before living in Roanoke.... My mother states they were both born out of state and around slavery time... which means they could have been slaves... Final note... My great grandmother was a patient at Central State in Petersburg due to mental illness... she died in the institution and my grandmother brought her home to Roanoke, Virgina to be buried... How would I go about finding out when my great grandmother died and the cause of death. I know very little records were kept... I can only think she may have died during the late 1940's or early fifties... My mother is unable to recall when she died
