Sorry I can't help you but I will ask my dad, Julius Blank, if he remembers your grandfather. Dad grew up in Petersburg from 1915-1932.
He is alive and well in our hometown of Syracuse,
I am in San Diego, a smart move, and dad spends winters in FL.
My dtr is going to start at American U in DC this fall and I plan a first visit to P'burg Monday or Tuesday Aug 23/24.
Are you in P'burg? Do you have any info of the Jewish pop. back in the 20's?

PS, my grandmother died in P'burg, but her body was sent to NYC for burial. Maybe that's what happened to your g'father.
