As far as I can make out they were AfricanAmerican and he was John J Green bc 1824 give or take a year or two. His parents are quoted on his Aussie marriage certificate as Thomas (?)a farmer and Lydia (Foster?). Very hard to decipher. He came over to the Australian goldfields before 1861. Were there goldfields around Petersburg at all? Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated. Judy in Australia
