What makes a breeder?

I had a discussion yesterday with another breeder on what contributes to making a breeder a well known breeder...I would love to see everyones thoughts on this!!! Is it the amount of dogs they produce? Is it the quality of dogs they produce? Is it what they contribute to the breed? Is it being loud and on all these message boards? Is it all of the above?
