Two engineers who say their safety concerns about the railroad tract over-head bridge is in question, yet the county higher-ups told the barrio residents that they nevertheless believe the new bridge structure is safe. They said that if we had any concerns about the safety of the bridge, we would not started back in September.
It is the finding of the investigation that there appear to have been chronic attemps to keep many of the serious safely allegations quiet, put aside and not dealt with in an open business like manner in the public barrio best interest. The Mayor called a hearing to examine how “key decisions” were made in hopes of avoiding similar delays, cost overturns and engineering problems in the future barrio infrastructure projects.
The report detailed concerns about cracked deck welds, anchor rods or bolts on the stabilizing structures, which that came to the light through the news media, rather than public disclosure by county agencies.
Among the dozens of people interviewed, the bridge engineers who was forced off their job. The Mayor, after expressing concerns about the level of testing, was in agreement with an engineering contractor who also raised concerns about the cracked welds was told that he was being demanding.
We have to get the barrio public’s perception of the department who is responsible overseeing the project. The bridge program oversight committee was created through the 15 years construction process with the goal of seeing that they had no delays and overruns and motoring quality. Stanley who chairs the committee, testified last Friday that he believes it has functioned well but he conceded that sacrifices were made on the cost on the Mayor and the . barrio residents in order to get the project back on schedule. It seems that the hard working barrio residents are taking over the bridge project and make it right and fixing all the boo boos made by the bridge engineers. The Mayor said is a great idea. Unemployment percentage will go down and give them an opportunty to earn good money. But the barrio residents wants cash only for their labor, free meals, transportation to and from work, a couple of cases of beer, and be paid daily, not weekly or monthly. And you know why.
Stay tune to see how the barrio residents finish the over-head bridge project.
There you have it. Believe or not. You be the judge.
