TRUE TEJANOS GATHER BECAUSE IT MATTERS

Imagine asking your neighbors to invest in a neighborhood block party, where everyone chips in their resources, food, music or whatever they can because it matters. Now imagine everyone busy, working week after week preparing to make sure everything go smoothly, making sure every detail counts. The day of the event is here and show time comes around, and NO ONE arrives.
That’s a feeling so empty it’s almost like you're free falling in an elevator ride with a pain in the pit of your stomach. It’s also A reality no major show every waits for, but it could happen. Why?
True Tejanos, time for talking is over, time for action is here and now. Financially not everyone every one is in a position to make a great sacrifice, but for those True Tejanos who talk about doing something for their culture — come take your place and be heard. The Sixth Annual Tejano Music National Convention is more than a scheduled event to be scratched off a calendar, it’s a gathering place for people to dialogue, exchange ideas of survival, and come together for the greater good. If Tejanos in great numbers fail to attend this major event (as the two events in Vegas earlier this year), we are confirming that Tejano music really does not matter now and we have no future. Talk is cheap and being there will set the momentum for the coming years.
Now is the moment to contribute to this Onda not later (mañana), tomorrow may be too late. Hosting Dallas Tejanos have both a responsibility and opportunity to showcase their character and hospitality to all attendees. Note for Dallas owners PLEASE PASS OUT restaurant flyers with good directions located near the hotel this year – this would be a smart move for business owners. For artist coming to Convention, "CHECK YOU EGOS AT THE DOOR". This convention is all about servicing people not egos. Tejano consumers need more love this year than every before. Make the time to sign an autograph, wear a smile and bring your most positive Karma if you really want to make a difference. Now is a time for healing. True Tejanos are living some critical times financially, emotionally and spiritually — give people hope that something good is over the horizon.
The last American economic recession brought hope and prosperity to Tejano music and its people. It helped discover how to work with little, and making every contribution count. It also helped build new talents worthy of people's attention like, Ram Herrera, Selena, Fama, La Fiebre, to name a few.
Join other Tejanos traveling from out of state and at least attend one or two days. Whatever you do make the effort to contribute to this convention not look for FREE any handouts. Making this Tejano Music National Convention a success is on you! If you stay home on this issue, remember how Dallas lost it's Tejano radio — by very little action.
Finally, Tejanos from California to Corpus, or Lansing to Lewisville — each True Tejanos please share your appreciation with David and Sarah Chavez of Latin Pointe for sacrificing year after year their energy, resources and dedication to this Onda. Go meet them personally and share a word or shake a hand, show them how it matters to you. Even from a far take action by writing, posting, You Tube, Face book, communicate that their investment of the heart still holds cultural integrity. Their investment matters to a great number of Tejanos from coast to coast. Ask what YOU can do for this Onda, because your actions could make a true difference.
