Patti, Look around in your immediate area for the nearest VFW or American Legion Post.
Traditionally, most of them will take a well-used flag and have a ceremonial burning, along with other flags in the same condition. Most of them do it a few times a year, it's perfectly legal, and is accepted American flag etiquette.
Some of the posts will also give you a new replacement flag. God Bless America, Warren
