Posted by Shani "You're kidding..." "Jax, I don't think it will do any harm now." Chloe agreed. Jax looked at Chloe for a moment, and then loosened his grip on Nikolas. He supposed she was right. Jax had hit the guard hard enough that it would be awhile before he regained consciousness and Nikolas surely couldn't take Jax. "Now, help each other how?" Chloe inquired once more of Nikolas. "Do you know of my grandmother?" "Helena? Yes, Stefan spoke of her sometimes." "Your cousin...Emily...I am with your cousin now. We will be married one day, of that I am sure. I love her more than I love life itself." Jax rolled his eyes as a warm sparkle entered Chloe's eyes at Nikolas' romantic declaration. A movement that was not lost on Chloe though she said nothing. "Helena is trying to gain control of the Cassadine fortune. And she has already gone after Emily. I need to stop her before..." Nikolas couldn't bring himself to finish his sentence. "I was hoping Jax could help me with that. Helena has always had a...weakness for Jax. I was desperate...and I took you, and you have my deepest apologies. But, as I said, I love Emily more than life itself..." Chloe looked at Jax again, wondering if he was going to say something. She could tell by the look in his eyes that his wheels were turning, but to her surprise, he kept whatever thoughts he was having to himself. "You wanted Jax to help you how?" "I don't really know. We were trying to come up with something..." Nikolas looked at Jax now. "In fact, you seemed to have a plan..." "I have what I want." Jax answered coldly. "And hell will freeze over before I ever help you..." Chloe interrupted. "Jax...maybe we can help each other." Because the fact was that now that Nikolas knew Chloe was alive, he could very well tell Helena, and Chloe and Jax had not even come close to covering Chloe's tracks these past years. If Helena found out that Chloe received checks from Stefan's estate, there would be hell to pay, Chloe knew that now. Even her own grandson was afraid of the woman. Besides...Stefan *had* taken care of Chloe all of these years...and Chloe felt she owed it to Stefan to help Nikolas if she could. "What was your plan, Jax?" Jax mumbled something and Chloe knew his anger and frustration were growing. "Please..." Nikolas began but Chloe shook her head at him. It was best if Nikolas didn't say anything else to Jax, of that Chloe was sure. "Jax, don't you think it will help us to help him?" Jax's jaw twitched and he stared past Chloe as his mind continued to process her words. Chloe was right...Jax knew that. They all had a common enemy, and if they worked together then the sooner Jax could bring Chloe back to Port Charles so they could start a normal life together. But Jax couldn't help but wonder if that was Chloe's reason for wanting to help Nikolas. Or if Stefan had something to do with it? Chloe had been with Stefan for years...there had to be *something* there between them. Technically, Jax knew he had no right to be jealous. But it was exactly what he was. Especially since Chloe seemed to want to help the man who kidnapped her, who tore her away from Jax yet again. Especially if those feelings she had for Stefan made her want to help Nikolas mainly because he was Stefan's nephew. If that was the reason, then Jax figured that Chloe's feelings for Stefan ran deeper than Chloe might had.... Jax's eyes darkened. They never really talked about Chloe's feelings for Stefan actually. Not in depth. Was that a discussion he even wanted to have? "Bring Emily here." "What?" Chloe and Nikolas said as Jax repeated his muttered statement. "If you and Emily are here, Helena will follow. If Helena still has some sort of interest in me, then as soon as she realizes I'm here, I might hear from her." "I don't know..." Rather Chloe did know. She hated that plan. Chloe didn't want Jax anywhere *near* Helena. *Especially* if she still had some sort of...interest in him. "I think that's rather dan..." "That will work." Nikolas interrupted Chloe's thoughts. "But..." "Fine, it's settled." Jax took Chloe's hand. "Call us when she gets here." "Hold on..." her voice drifted as Jax literally pulled her out of the room with him, shutting the door and locking Nikolas inside. Chloe snatched her hand from Jax's. She stormed ahead of him, finally stating, "You just cut me off..." "And you just forced us to cooperate with Nikolas Cassadine." "I just think that..." "So that's my plan and that's that. Now can we leave?" "No, that's not that...you can't just..." "Actually, I can do what I want. The plan doesn't even involve you, so what difference does it make..." "Doesn't involve me?!" Chloe cleared her throat and forced her voice to lower. "That woman has her own grandson so desperate that he resorts to kidnapping! And your whole plan involves her having an 'interest' in you so she seeks you out. How does that not involve me?" "You wanted to help Nikolas, right?" Praying that was not the reason. "Well, yes, but..." Just like he figured. This was about Nikolas for Chloe...Stefan for Chloe. "Then there's no but, Chloe." Jax lowered his voice to almost a whisper. "We need to drop this; we're not going to agree. Let's just go." Chloe resigned herself to the fact that she wouldn't be able to change Jax's mind. She followed him a couple of steps, "What about Niklolas?" "What about him?" "Are we just going to leave him locked in the room....Don't you think that's unnecessary at this point, Jax...Jax..." Chloe stopped, wondering what got into Jax as he ignored her, quickening his pace. Shani
