Posted by Shani Feedback is always appreciated! Nikolas continued to pace as he thought. This wasn't going as he planned at all. "Well?" Jax asked, his tone coldy impatient even as on the inside his fear rose. Who knew what Nikolas might do to Chloe in his desperation? However Jax masked his fear relatively well as alawys; even somewhat taking charge of the situation. He had to; he wasn't just going to sit around and let Nikolas take control--Chloe was everything to Jax, and he refused to let someone take her away again. Nikolas again sighed quietly. If he were more like Helena or Stefan then Jax wouldn't dare to... "If you aren't sure whether I am serious, then you should ask your grandmother." "Unfortunately my grandmother is still roaming around and making my life hell so obviously you can't be too..." "Your grandmother learned when she was beat. Which is a good thing, because when it comes to Chloe, I will do anything necessary to take care of her. Helena learned that without needing to take the hard route." Nikolas sighed quietly. "An hour." "What?" "A car will be outside your hotel in an hour..." "You can do better than that..." "I hold the cards here!" Nikolas reminded him, or rather himself. "One hour. That is the best I will do.". What was she supposed to... Her eyes focused on the glass pitcher full of water. Bloody probably...but that could very well work if necessary. Waiting. Frustrated. He was usually a man of action...his eyes clouded... Usually... Though it seemed that it always took an "event" for him to be able to take a "next step" with Chloe. It took her being taken away from him to allow himself to blurt out his feelings for her. First, when she was hit by Helena's car so many years ago...that had been the catalyst for him to express his love to her then. Now, it was Nikolas' capture of her that pushed him to say those three little words. Despite what some people thought, despite how he might act, falling in love, truely and deeply in love, never came easy for Jax. Giving his heart totally to someone was something he had always wanted, but became more and more terrified of as the years went by. He was too afraid of having his heart broken and had learned how capable he was of breaking the heart of others. However, now that his feelings for Chloe were out there, Jax wondered about his fear. He gave her control of his heart and knew he was right to trust her with it. Whatever rough patches they may have, Jax knew he was safe with Chloe. First he would bring her back to him. And then he would show her each and every day how much he loved her until hopefully one day she would feel safe enough with him again to trust him with her heart as well. Stefan saved her...and then lied to make sure that he could keep her all to himself she reminded herself. Nothing that Stefan did was all about her. It was more about him--what he wanted. Obviously he cared for her, maybe even deeply...but he didn't love her. He didn't care enough for her to make her own decisions about where she should be and whom she should be with... Chloe closed her eyes as a flash hit her...saying goodbye to Jax...letting him go because that was what he felt he needed to do. She often dreamed of Jax walking out on her...but this was the first time she remembered the conversation that led up to it. She had loved Jax enough to let him go, even as it tore her own heart out. 'And he left, didn't he? But yet you were stupid enough to fall in love with him all over again. Why would you trust him with your heart again?' Should she trust Jax with her heart? Maybe...maybe not... But what she did trust was that if she didn't tell him that she loved him she would regret it for the rest of her life. Chloe had never allowed fear to rule her life. But, as Jax had taught her, love was worth the risk. Falling in love with Jax then was obviously a risk. But it had been a risk she was glad she had taken. Even when things were rough, when she was with Jax, things weren't "bad". It was only "bad" without him. Chloe knew that if she had been more cautious, had never allowed herself to fall in love with Jax, she would have lived her life with her heart firmly in tact, never experiencing the horrific pain of a broken heart. Yet as much pain as she felt without Jax, was nothing compared to the joy she when she was with him. Loving Jax brought that to her before...loving Jax brought that back to her now. First she needed to get them away from Nikolas. Then she was going to take that risky leap of faith that she and Jax could do things right this time. That forever would mean forever, and always would mean always. Chloe understood there was a chance she could get her heart broken by Jax again...but just like before, Chloe knew it was a risk she wanted to take. Shani Says :-)--I know it's short, but like I said I divided up the original chapter into 2 different ones so I could put something out. And I just wanted to go a bit more into Jax's and Chloe's heads/hearts before more action.

I've been inspired by Megan's lovely bribe to just go ahead and divide up one chapter into two separate ones and post the first one now.

Chloe sat down with a disappointed groan, feeling completely defeated. She had searched every inch of this room and could find no way out other than the front door.
Jax sat down on the bench outside of his hotel.
'You're going to attack Nikolas after everything that Stefan did for you?' Chloe's conscious began to nag at her just for forming the plan.
