They rode along in silence, and once parked outside of some mansion, he had "suggested" that she get out of the car. They walked inside and down the hall in silence, where he then "suggested" that she step into a room. Chloe turned around, watching as Nikolas shut the door. She heard the *click* of a lock and then heard his footsteps disappear down the hall. Chloe looked around the room, her mind racing, trying to come up with an idea to get out. To get back to Jax. "Nikolas Cassadine." Nikolas responded from the other end. Jax did a quick scan of the cafe before continuing down the street. "How did you get my number?" "I'm a Cassadine. I've always had it. I just didn't want you to know that I did...I was hoping to get your cooperation without...." "You know what, I don't have time for this right now..." "Looking for Chloe?" Jax froze. "I bet I have your attention now." Nikolas smiled. Nikolas had to be fishing....there was no way he could know Chloe was alive.... "Chloe is dead." Jax answered sternly. "What kind of sick game are you playing?" "So that must just be a clone I found looking for a phone to call you with." Jax closed his eyes, his panic making all of the assuredness in his voice disappear as he whispered "What do you want from me?" "The same thing I wanted when I tried to reach you earlier. An ally against Helena. And now that I have Chloe, the woman you stayed with instead of coming back home to Port Charles for some reason, I would bet my life that you are just itching to help me. You help me, and I will deliver Chloe back to you safe and sound. Then I will go about my merry way and say nothing about her or you two to anyone." "You must be desperate." Jax realized. "Meaning?" "Meaning kidnapping isn't your m.o." "She's making my life hell. Antagonizing Emily. Trying to get me and, more importantly, my money into her control. I will be under no one's control ever again. But I need help. And you're the only person I can think of. So yes, I'm desperate. Very much so. And people already think that Chloe is dead..." "I swear to God that if you lay a hand on her..." "I will do *whatever* it takes to get Helena out of my life once and for all." "What about Emily? Emily adores Chloe." "What Emily doesn't know, won't hurt her. Besides, what are you going to do, call Emily up and tell her Chloe is alive and I'm holding her? Emily will never believe you. And on the off chance that she does, then that will ruin whatever plan you and Chloe have to do whatever it is that you've been doing since you ran into each other." So Nikolas didn't know absolutely everything. That would hopefully be useful down the line. The fact that he was desperate was something that Jax was going to take a gamble he could use to his advantage now. "Before I agree to anything, I want to speak with Chloe." Nikolas thought for a moment. "One second" he decided. Chloe moved away from the wall as she heard her door being unlocked. In a moment, Nikolas walked in. "Go ahead." he said into the phone before handing it to her. "Please tell me you're okay..." Chloe breathed in relief at the sound of Jax's voice. "I'm fine..." she said, refusing her let her eyes tear. Jax nodded, his worry calming slightly at her promise. He opened his mouth once more, and rattled off his words quickly... "Now tell me honestly, because I swear to God that if he..." "I'm fine." Chloe repeated, turning her back to Nikolas as she closed her eyes, wanting to be focused on nothing but Jax. "I am so sorry...I should have been more careful..." "I'm going to get you out. So don't worry. You just hang tight, and I will come and get you." "Long enough." Nikolas decided, reaching out to take the phone. Chloe tightened her grip, refusing to let go of the line...knowing this connection *was* the only connection between her and Jax right now. "Jax, you don't..." "Chloe, listen to me." Jax's voice deepened as he spoke softly now. Knowing what he had to do. "It will be all right. You just stay there, and I will do whatever it takes to get you out of there and back to me..." "I'm not asking again..." Nikolas warned Chloe. What he had to say..."...because I love you." Chloe's eyes flew open at Jax's declaration. But before she could respond, Nikolas snatched the phone. "You've spoken with her." Nikolas walked to the door. "And as she said, she's fine..." he opened it and left And as the door locked, "I love you too." Chloe let her tears escape. "She only said she's fine. I want to see that for myself." "You're really beginning to..." "To what? You want my help, and I want Chloe back. Fine. But before I make any deal, I always know exactly what I am getting. You say you will deliver Chloe to me safe and sound, if I help you. So, I want to *see* Chloe, in person, with my own eyes, to make sure she is okay, before we begin any sort of plan. That shouldn't be a problem." And then she went back to finding the room's secret exit. Once she found it, she wouldn't yet leave, because Jax had said that was coming and she believed him. Chloe had learned, or learned again rather, these past days that Jax was very determined and very resourceful. So Chloe was sure that he was coming. But once he was here, she wanted a way to get them both out of here. Hopefully it would be before Jax had to do "whatever it took" to help her. Nikolas was a Cassadine. And if the Cassadines were as bad as Stefan had said, and Jax had reiterated when at least when it came to Helena, then "whatever it took" could very well be too dangerous. "And I don't trust you either. But I'll tell you one thing that you can and will take to your grave. If I don't see her, I will assume that you lied to me, and that she is not all right. And that will mean that I have to kill you. Even if it's the last thing I ever do."

It had been the same since Nikolas found Chloe.
Jax took a deep breath, praying to the heaven's above, even as he managed to answer into his ringing phone calmly. "This is Jax."
Chloe continued knocking lightly on the walls. There had to be a secret exit in here somewhere. Nikolas was Stefan's nephew. And if they were anything alike, there would be some sort of secret exit....
"So here's the..."
Chloe wiped her face.
"Because I don't trust you."
