Hello All!
For over 11 years we have been fortunate to help horses and the people who love them!
In December 2009, we took in 3 horses. Tsan Tsant, Rocket (Big Red) & Prancer. Prancer was fortunate to be placed in a forever home and the most recent update is below. Tsan & Rocket are doing well although Rocket is terribly attached to Tsan and gets very nervous if anyone enters Tsan’s pen! We are working on helping him to realize nothing bad is going to happen to Tsan and that Rocket can be okay without him.
Our hay supply is dwindling. The horses clean it up at a remarkable rate. They are all in good weight though. We certainly could use some assistance with donations to feed the horses, get them the vet care they need, farrier care and to buy wormers, supplements, and other supplies to care for them. Every little bit helps and no donation is too small.
We continue to network with other individuals and rescues to help horses in need. Due to the economy many people are finding they can no longer afford their horses. We receive many emails & phone calls from people needing help placing their horses. TIER is not in a position to take more horses in at this time, so we do our best to network with others. Through these efforts two groups of horses will have a place to go and several others have found new homes. Although TIER is not in a financial position to take in horses, we can certainly work with others to help as many people/horses as possible. Our current funds are earmarked for the TIER residents and it almost time to order hay again. Donations would be greatly appreciated
The 1/10/10 VolunTIER day was a huge success! Rising Star Pony Club of Riverside, CA, Henderson Ranch and friends came out in force! I am still amazed at how hard everyone worked to make the rescue and the horses sparkle. Pictures will be up on the website soon! There were people organizing equipment, cleaning stalls, cleaning/organizing the hay area, scrubbing water buckets, grooming, etc. Mel brought Gemma out and worked her in the roundpen for a bit. Paco was a hit with Rising Star Pony Club and others. He sucked up the attention and wanted more! Annabelle was her usual Diva self with her “sense of entitlement”. She was a bit miffed that she had to stay in her stall during all the activities instead of being in the middle of everything.
And now.......Prancer’s Update:
1/12/10 We received an update on Prancer. He is such a lucky guy to be able to live the rest of his life at a wonderful Sanctuary. After his arrival he was given a huge stall all to himself, a brand new blanket for those chilly nights and is being fed nutritious feed.
He’s been kept in the stall to give his system time to adjust to being fed properly and to monitor his food consumption, water intake and to make sure that his overall health is progressing.
All the attention and wonderful care seems to be doing the trick! He is steadily improving and has become a little pushy in that spacious stall. Since he is doing so well, he was turned out yesterday to get him moving around a bit. He really seemed to be having fun! He does tire easily, just totally out of shape and flabby, but it was good to watch him run and play. Another attempt was made to read his tattoo, but it seems to have bled into his skin and it couldn't be deciphered at all!
Although the tattoo cannot be read and his racing identity cannot be discovered, we know who he is. He is Prancer, the horse that was saved from starvation & neglect on Christmas Eve morning. An awesome Christmas present for Prancer......the gift of life!!
