I've been working for years on an effort to have AHA establish a Rescue/Rehoming Committee within our existing committee structure. deaf ears....
BUT! I was talking with Lori Conway, chair of the Equine Stress, Research, Education committee - and she was most excited with my idea to set up a formal Rescue/Rehoming Subcommittee within ESRE. She'd already asked me to address the committee at our upcoming Convention regarding some aspect of rescue and now I have a topic!
There is now a formal Rescue/Rehoming subcommittee, and we in the Advisory Council for the Foundation now have a working arm to attack many of the projects we'd decided upon within the framework of the AHA committee structure! Lori has asked me to work on the membership of that subcommittee, since she agrees that it needs to be comprised of members with a vested interest and understanding of rescue, especially within the framework of AHA and what it can/will and cannot/will not do for the horses.
She's also asked me to chair the subcommittee - big surprise, eh?
So any of you arab folks who are members of AHA but aren't members of ESRE, please consider going to the AHA committee signup and join ESRE - and then let me know if you want to work on this subcommittee! I'd love to have some fellow rescuers who want to actually DO SOMETHING!
