Well...... I may just have to tell 'the rest of the story' - since I'm not sure when and how soon Gail will get here to do it.
I just got a link to your website from a friend who told me to look on the rainbow bridge page at Joy.
I am almost positive that your Joy was my Cold Kate. Kate was stolen from the pasture in 1985 in Oklahoma and even though she was seen in a trailer headed west, we never saw her again.
If this was Kate, she was an appendix registered Quarter Horse that I rescued from a slaughter pen. She had been with a trainer that had nearly ruined her. She had had her mouth wired and the scar tissue prevented her ever wearing a bit again. I was shocked the first time I turned her out and discovered that she was gaited.
She was a beautiful, wonderful mare and I am glad that if this was Kate, that her last days were happy ones where she was well cared for. I have never stopped looking for her in all of these years. We really think that a neighbor had something to do with her disappearance but were never able to prove it.
