Posted by tiervoluntier Many many thanks to all who so generously donated tack for this sale. We had several people who drove many miles to bring their donations, and your efforts to help the TIER horses are deeply appreciated. I enjoyed meeting all of you. We all piled in front of the TV after the sale to watch the Preakness. Prayers and good thoughts to Barbaro and the humans who love him. We are so honored to be chosen as a community service project by Kayla R. Kayla is a volunTIER who has spent many a Saturday helping out around TIER. Thanks so much Kayla, and have a great Bat Mitzvah! Did you know that the average horse needs to consume about 20% of its body weight in feed daily? Now this is an average of course, with some horses needing more or less than that depending on many factors. But on average, a 100 lb bale of hay will feed a 1,000 lb horse for about 5 days, or feed five 1,000 lb horses for one day. We try to feed the TIER horses the best quality hay we can to avoid health problems and vet bills. Like everything else, the costs just keep rising. Most horse rescues like TIER are supported soley by private donations, and this is a continuous effort. There is no limit to our appreciation to all of those who have given so generously to help the horses. Work parties: we will be starting up our monthly work parties again soon. Stay tuned! And once again Thank YOU for helping the horses!

Tack sale update: Our tack sale was a great succes this year! We had a great turnout this year, and it was nice to be able to have the volunTIERs together. Thanks to Mel, Diane, Andie, Ellen, John, Veronika, Belinda and the Notre Dame Equestrian Club for giving up a good night's sleep to help out. A special thanks to Ingrid L who has been kind enough to give us some of her space in the Horsetrader ads and come early to help us set up. Your support is always appreciated. Also thanks to Pat from Horse Mart who donated a gift basket and always supports our tack sales.
