Apologies to all for the long wait on updates. Our computer had a problem with
its ether net card that actually turned out to be a loose cable! We now have internet
access again.
with a generous cash donation from Sarah! This awesome young woman has spent a great
deal of time and effort collecting items and holding auctions to benefit horses
in need! There just aren't enough words to adequately express our gratitude!!
we had purchased unsatisfactory hay that could not be returned. We had hoped to
be able to purchase a full truckload of hay that would last us almost three months.
Donors stepped up to the plate to help and we originally were able to purchase $1000
worth of hay. When smaller quantities of hay are purchased the price per bale is
a bit higher than if you purchase a full truckload. Therefore, you don’t get as
much hay for the dollar, darn it!! We have been able to purchase $1k worth of hay
twice since the original plea. Because we are buying smaller amounts of hay, it
doesn’t last as long. We are still very much in need of donations to purchase hay
as our current supply is swiftly dwindling. The cooler nights require that we feed
a little heavier so the horses can stay warm even though they are getting their
“winter fuzzies”.
last a few months. We are very grateful to you wonderful folks for your support.
the Rainbow Bridge. I am still in shock at the suddenness of her passing.
to greet me as usual as they had the run of the front of property the evening before.
I mixed up Dottie’s pellets, vitamins, MSM, etc., placed it in her pen and she began
eating. Shortly after I noticed she was down. I checked her feet for heat (possible
founder) and there was none. She had pooped shortly before she was served breakfast
so I didn’t think she was experiencing colic. I checked her gums and the color/response
to pressure was good. I asked her to get up and she was unsteady on her feet and
her breathing was labored. I administered Banamine in case it was colic. She seemed
to be okay, began eating and I finished feeding the others.
up, walked out to the grassy area. She was very unsteady on her feet and went down
again. I ran in to call the vet and as I was speaking to the vet, Dot’s legs began
kicking as she was lying there. Then she stopped moving. I told the vet to hang
on and ran out to her. She was gone. I stood there in shock. When I got back
on the phone with the vet and explained what had just happened, it was his thought
that she might have experienced and aneurysm. I still can’t believe that our precious
little girl is gone. I am thankful that when it was her time to go that she went
quickly and that I was here.
the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure Pearl & Slim were there to meet her and that
she is whole, pain free and her voice which sounded like a billy goat is ringing
through the land! We miss you Dot! We miss you so very much! Thank you for the
gift of your presence.
bandage her leg to protect it as she tends to lie on that side. The only hair that
is growing on that portion of her leg is where the vet did the hair transplant.
It is kind of cute as the hair that was transplanted came from her belly and it
is longer/curlier than the other hair on her leg. SueAnn continues to greet all
visitors and is especially interested in people who have graham crackers!
tootsies! Thank you Mike!
from Sacha’s father. The horses are absolutely delighted about the fruit salad
they are getting! Thanks to the cooler weather the fruit & carrots are not
spoiling as rapidly as they do in the warmer months and we are able to give the
horses these treats almost daily.
turnout. The girls in this group are hoping to become regular volunteers and we
are looking forward to their visits.
What a crew! They jumped in to clean pens, groom horses, wash water buckets, etc.
Hannah came out this last Saturday and since the weather was nice we were able to
bathe one of the horses. Awesome! We now have one shiny clean horse......well,
at least for a little while. Rolling in the dirt seems to be the first thing a
clean horse wants to do! HA!
the dates. The horses would love to see you!
to gather enough volunteers for the event. We will plan for another one hopefully
before year’s end.

of you, the rescues of TIER have hope. Because you care there is healing, there
is light in the eyes of horses who may have had no hope.
