Posted by whoanellie Hey everyone.... I'm baaaaack! I just returned from relief convoy trip #2 into Pascagoula, Miss. Yesterday I delivered 200 bales of hay and 2000 pounds of horse feed. When I got there, with the load I had, there was no animal food to be had. People hoping to find dog food were being turned away because there was none. The folks at the shelter told me that they were now trying to care for 150+ horses in the Pascagoula area. I told them I would be back with another load as soon as I could. My daughter, Sam, has come down with a cold or maybe the flu. She has a fever, congestion, and a deep cough in her chest. She is not happy about it but she will be staying home for a while. I am loading 200 bales of hay, 2000 pounds of horse feed, 1000 pounds of dog feed, and as much cat food as I can get into the trailer (its a big trailer but it still has its limitations) on Monday and leaving for Miss with load #3. I am taking another smaller trailer with 50 bales of hay and both dog and cat food from Florida's East Coast with me. I will be back in Florida Wednesday. I am leaving on load #4 on Friday. I will have two more trailers with me for that trip and we will have about 450 bales of hay, 2000 pounds of grain, dog food, cat food, and veterinary supplies. People are still asking if they can join the convoy.... If you have a truck and its loaded head west. I deliver my supplys to Pascagoula until they tell me they need no more. You can also take stuff to Gulf Port, Hattiesburg, and a couple other locations as well. The interstates are generally open though finding fuel gets difficult now and then. I hope to pick up the stuff in the Live Oak/Wellborn area on Friday. If I have missed anybody up there please post here. I know I'm being redundant but to all the volunteers who made the first trip, all the folks who have sent donations, and everyone who keeps us in your thoughts..... more thanks than you can know. Many COTHER,s have sent cash..... I know your real names but I don't know y'all on the board by user names. When I get a real thank you post up I will use first names..... y'all will know who you are. Thanks for your support, I couldn't do this without y'all. If your out and about and you see a honkin big white horse trailer with Shady Oaks Farm graphics and Florida tags headed West loaded down with hay make sure you wave. If you can get me to stop I'll be proud to buy you a big old glass of tea and sit a bit..... Don Link: Who'll hit the road for Katrina assistance?
