can someone explain to me how a horse ruptures its spleen?

i was just told that last week a horse that i sold a certain person. all the suden ruptured its spleen and was found dead.. now.. doesnt it take a bit of doing. say a kick in the right place or something else traumatic for a spleen to rupture?
right now i am not happy at all..
