
Posted by Kate Brock First, start with free-choice hay. No alfalfa, but orchard grass or whatever. You'll have to introduce grain slowly. We use a 10/10 pellet, but basically, with Arabs, you want high fat/low protein. Of course, a good pasture really helps too. We feed lots of raw fruit and vegetable treats also. Lots of carrots, romaine lettuce, etc. Good luck and keep us posted. If you have more specific questions, email me and I'll forward it to my daughter. We have a rescued Arab that had a weight problem. He was a stallion, but he's a gelding now. I'm not an expert, but I can tell you what we did and it worked. He's nicely filled out now and the vet told us he would always be thin because of years of near starvation. I need to put up more recent photos of Mac, but let me tell you, he's anything BUT thin!
