I am new to fishing Alvey reels. I have two 50C1 reels that are 5 1/2 inches in diameter. I have one on a 8' medium heavy rod and cast up 4 ounces of weight. This rod is great with 12 pound test on the alvey. This is balanced and works well for me. My other is on a Berkley Reflex 10' rod and cast really far and can cast 2-8 ounces of weight. The rod has a very large front grip and a very long back grip and is not balanced well at all. I need a rod to suit this reel. If anyone is selling any rod to fit a Alvey or email me on different types of rod makers for Alvey reels other than Snyder Glas and Alvey. I need to know what to look for and what I am looking for. I will be willing to trade someone for a matching rod for my Alvey if anyone has a extra or one not being used. My berkley is a very nice rod and is used for day/or night fishing being it has 3M Scotch Bright reflective coating on the whole rod, and a reflective wrap around the guides.
