Posted by Andrew I'm interested in casting up to 2oz and less squidgies and shads for jewies off beach and want max distance possible. I've checked a few posts on the florida surf fishing site by a guy called sergio who uses specialised graphite beach distance casting spin rods for casting streamlined 2oz metal slugs for high speed retrieve to rooster fish using threadlines/braid with knot to leader outside end runner. He is getting 200m. The rods he is using are not avaliable here but was wondering what alternatives you are aware of? I am not too keen on braid. I prefer 7 kilo mono. And the lures I'll be using are not your streamlined high speed type suitable for max distance. Rather un-aerodynamic plastics instead. This rod will NEED to be light for repeat casts but distance is the goal. I already have an fsu4120 which will do the job ok but I want to go a bit further. 9-10 foot is a comfortable spin rod length for repeat casting but I would go to 13 foot or so for extra distance.
