Good to hear from you George. Yes I dot rid of my shiny brown boots and exchanged them, at HMS excellent, for a pair of shiny black legs. After Dartmouth I left the greenie world and specialised in Gunnery doing a couple of 'G' jobs at sea in Argonaut & Mermaid. The rest of my navy time, apart from a spell as the Devonport Field Gun Officer in '75 was spent as a range officer at HMS Cambridge.
After leaving the navy I married a WRNS officer, worked in sales for a while then got a job as the executive officer of HMS Warrior at Portsmouth. For the past 15 years I have been freelancing as a historical researcher working mainly for authors and occasionally the BBC. I live in Fareham. I still have photos (slides) of the island including some of you writing home.382
