Well, let's see if this jogs anyone's memory. I'm Patricia (Pat) Hughes, stepdaughter/daughter of Eddie and Jill Russell. Eddie Russell was 2nd in command of the ammo dump there and we were there (with my brother Martin) from early 1965-August 1967 (aged 11-13) and lived in Magazine House up the hill overlooking Ammo Jetty.
I had the time of my life there, the amount of freedom we had as kids in such a safe environment is unimaginable in these modern times. Long afternoons spent down at the Lido - I remember when it first opened. Going to school (St Georges) by walla-walla. I cannot imagine a better environment for a girl the age I was then. I have many many happy memories of those days.... sigh!
