I just found this site whilst browsing tonight and was so glad to find that Stonecutters lives on in so many memories...
I was living there in 1976-77 with my REME husband. When I first arrived there were still a few prisoners in the military prison, but after a few months it closed completely and all personnel returned to UK.
Until I left the island in December 1977, the buildings were not put to any use whatsoever. I don't know if any use was found for them later.
