Hi all, astonished that such a web site exists, nonetheless it's a cracker. I visited Stonecutters on two postings to HK and recently revisted HK as a 'tourist.' I have seen it recently, in August this year, the island is no longer there, (as an island anyway), it is joined to the mainland as part of re-development in the harbour. The PLA has a military presence there so it is off-limits. However on my previous visits, 1965 & 1983 I stayed in two diverse locations. The former was as a guest at the military prison, (teenage soldier gone wrong), and the latterly as a WO2 who trained RHKR(v)on the island. My family stayed at some of the week-end chalets specifically located there for military families. Can anyone else remember the military prison and do you have memories of it? F'instance when did it close down?
