Posted by cyril gabriel my mother used to say stoddard was a norman name meaning standard bearer and the stoddards came to england with william the conqueror. i have since found it is a norman name having something to do with horse care and can find no evidence they came to england with william. many of my ancestors who were also stoddard ancestors came to england with william and that may be the reason mom thought the stoddards came with william, --Previous Message--
