BenjaminStoddard/Central NY Stoddards

I am a Stoddard descendant, through Benjamin Stoddard, Born: 2 JAN 1783, New London, New London, Connecticut; Died: 1856-04-07, Salisbury, Herkimer, New York, and his son Sylvanus (born 18 Feb 1817, Mayfield, Fulton, New York, later lived in Champion, NY), and his son Edwin Benjamin Stoddard, b. Constantia, Oswego, NY, Died: 4 Mar 1926, Rome, Oneida, New York, , and his daughter Edna Mae Stoddard (my grandmother, who died in 1987. The line from Sylvanus on down is lost, as far as I can tell, in any of the Stoddard genealogies out there. I recently caught the genealogy "bug", and I think I'm the only one in my Stoddard line to have it!
I am curious about one thing: the matter of Benjamin's father. Some accounts suggest he is the son of Elisha Stoddard, b. 1757, Groton, CT. But I'm not really sure. Any info appreciated.
Also, if there are other descendants of Benjamin out there, would love to hear from you.
