Posted by Kay Fordham According to "History of the town of Rye, New Hampshire : from its discovery and settlement to December 31, 1903," Joseph E. Stoddard and Elizabeth Lightford were married there on 28 Aug 1864. Stated they were both of Portsmouth. Hope this helps.

There was an Elizabeth Lightford who arrived in New York on 30 Aug 1858, but her age is listed as 20. She was traveling with a John Lightford, mechanic, age 60. Her occupation is listed as spinster. They departed from Liverpool on the ship City of Baltimore [microfilm M237, roll 187, line 35.
