My Canadian Stoddarts also came from Ireland - either Cavan County or Leitrim County. They arrived in Simcoe County, Ontario in 1818. Father, John, Mother Jane Davis and 3 sons, William, James and Hugh. I would guess that the father was born about 1770. In all census records they clearly classify themselves as "Irish". Do you have any idea what part of Ireland your Stoddarts came from?
