My name is John Stoddart.
I am tracing my family back in Scotland.
The area they lived in was that surrounding Gorebridge, Temple, Fala and possibly the Muttonhole(Pathead), Lasswade,Liberton and Edinburgh if you get far enough back.
According to my G.G.G Grandfather since 1590!
I have good information to share going back to the birth of Walter Stoddart in Faladam
in Abt 1790. His parents were I think John Stoddart and Janet Craig. Walter married Margaret Stennes in Abt 1811 in Chrichton? Dalkeith. They had amongst others, a son John on 25 June 1812. Thanks to "Scotlands People" I have a copy of his birth record.
Anyway, you get the idea.
I would be interested in communicating with anyone who is working in this area.
