I have a 2 year old daughter who also was born with trisomy 22. She inherited this disorder from me, (her mother), as I have an 11/22 translocation and am a carrier. Although her life has been a struggle at times due to all of her medical problems (malrotation of bowel, cleft palate, ASD, bicuspid aortic valve)she for the most part is a very happy little girl who loves her life. She is developmentally delayed but is coming along nicely at her own pace. She is able to roll from both back to belly and belly to back, she sits up independently, she pushes up on to hands and knees, and can take steps with assistance. She always has a smile on her face and can light up a room with her spirit. She enjoys being around other children and family (especially mommy), and clapping her hands to pat a cake and wheels on the bus. She loves to have stories read to her and help turn the pages in the book. My daughter also was not expected to live long and has proven the doctors wrong time and time again. I know that it is all so scary and overwhelming but your child is a blessing and even though you may not understand why this had to happen to your child and family please understand that you are obviously very special people who god trusts to care for one of his precious special children. Good luck to you and your family!

: My husband and I have a son born 4/23/05
: with full Trisomy 22. Upon examination
: of out chromosome it was found that I
: have a balanced translocation of the
: 2/22 chromosomes causing his trisomy.
: We have been unable to find anyone
: (our doctors in MN have never seen
: this)with a child who is living with
: full Trisomy 22. Does anyone have any
: information, outside of literature, on
: a child that has lived with full
: Trisomy 22? What are the
: outcomes/expectations? We have been
: told that it is highly likely he will
: pass in early infancy.
