My husband was diagnosed t(11;16). I need information about risks of handicapped children. I had 7 miscarriages already...
: Mike:
: My husband is the carrier of an 11/22
: balanced translocation, we have two
: children one of which is also the
: carrier of the balanced translocation
: we do not know if our oldest is a
: carrier or has a normal chromosmal
: make up. Both of our children are
: very healthy. there is a yahoo group
: the deals with all sorts of balanced
: translocation... we were told by our
: genetist that all the correct genetic
: is there not too much no too little it
: is just in the wrong place... please
: see a genecist as soon as possible,
: I'm sure your hospital has one, visit
: the yahoo groups site for balanced
: translocations, for support it is
: quite informative as well as
: supportive. God bless and
: Congratulations Stacey

: Hello,
: I just found this site and it appears
: to be a great support resource. My
: wife
: and I just learned throguh our amnio
: we
: have a balanced 3:22 translocation.
: We conceieved under IVF, and this was
: an embryo that was frozen and then
: thawed.
: We have a blood draw to test ourselves
: and genetecist follow-up when results
: are back in 2 weeks. But we have been
: told nothing about what "balanced
: 3:22" is or means.
: Can anyone who knows what this is, the
: risks and implications, provide any
: clarity?
: Thanks in advance for anything to shed
: light - needless to say, this is quite
: stressful for us at the moment!
: Mike
