Dear Tara,
I notice that you had dye injected into your tubes too. I had that done and fell pregnant with Fabyan about 2 mths after. At the moment as Fabyan is so young I don't know how bad he will be affected. He has been registered blind and needs an op on his skull soon but I count myself lucky as I know from other mums that it could have been a lot worse, but thats what frightens me about future pregnancies. You need to ask your GP to put you in touch with a genetic counsellor,or even look them up on the net for your nearest maternity hospital.
Good Luck

: Alison,
: Thank you for the response. I am so
: sorry you have to deal with this, I am
: beginning to understand how scary it
: is. We are waiting for our tests to
: come back, but the dr thinks we have an
: abnormality. I have given it some
: thought and we are considering other
: options. There has just been soo much
: pain already and I think if we stay on
: this course there will only be more. I
: feel like we should take some control.
: Have you considered other options?
: I only ask because it must be really
: hard to be in your situation. I have
: worked with special needs kids for
: years and I admire you for your
: strength. Good luck to you
: Tara

: So Sorry to hear about your
: miscarrages.
: I had a hard time trying to get
: pregnant then I had an ectopic
: pregnancy. Unfortunately I didn't find
: out that I had a 22 rearrangement until
: after my son was born with problems. The
: big question is do I go ahead and have
: a sibling for him.

: Can you tell me about Trisomy 22, This
: is
: all new to me, though I have had three
: miscarriages, now counting this one.
: What is Trisomy 22, and is it
: treatable? Also how do I meet a
: genetic counselor? Can they help?
: Thanks
: Tara

: My husband and I already had one child
: when we had our misscarriage so YES it
: is possible to have a perfectly normal
: pregnancy and child. When I met with
: the genetic counselor she told me that
: if I have another MC with a Trisomy 22
: only that the baby will die, but it
: should make no difference in our next
: pg, it is just something that happens.
: Hope that helped some,
: Laura

: I recently had a "missed"
: miscarriage 6 weeks ago and my doctor
: decided to do genetic testing. They
: found abnormalities in the 22nd
: chromosome, but have not been able to
: provide me with any more information.
: My husband and I had blood work done
: and should get the results in about 2
: weeks. I am a nervous wreck wondering
: if we will ever be able to have
: children. Do you know whether or not
: trisomy 22 will be a recurrent scenario
: that we will face if we get pregnant
: again, or is it possible to have a
: healthy pregnancy and a healthy child.
: What have your doctors told you about
: getting pregnant? Any information will
: help.
: Thank you, Ronee

: I have been having recurrent
: miscarriages
: and with my last miscarriage we decided
: to do some genetic testing. The
: results came back that there was an
: extra 22nd chromosome. I am meeting
: with a genetic counselor next week, but
: I was wondering if any of you could
: give me some insight as to what I
: should expect. I have a two yo son
: now, whom other than being small is
: perfectly healthy kid. I am so scared
: thay this maybe something that affects
: him and was wondering if I would have
: already noticed anything that was wrong
: or if maybe there are things that show
: later in life.
: Thanks!
