Elizabeth,
That is a horrible thing to say to someone with a disabled child. Abortion may be your choice and that may be your opinion, but obviously this person loves her child very much and would never change anything about her life and the decisions she made. Obviously you have no children of your own and don't understand what it feels like to be a mother and care for and love another human being.
: He is happy now. But how will he do when
: you pass away? A friend of mine works
: in a home for disabled adults. Most of
: them came into care after their parents
: died and nobody else would care for
: them. If I knew I was carrying a baby
: with a genetic disorder, I would
: probably choose for an abortion. Life
: is hard enough for non-disabled people,
: and it is even harder for those who are
: disabled.

: i am 5 months pregnant and my amnio
: cncluded that on choromosome 22 there
: is extra material on the short arm does
: anyone know what this means?
: : I believe that you are a balance
: carrier of the long arm 22. I am a
: balance carrier of the long arm of 5.
: My son when he was born picked up the
: balance chromosome of 5 from me and it
: floated down into #22 and broke into
: two pieces. My some has 3 chromosomes
: in #22. My doctor said that it's it 50%
: chance that if I had more childrens,
: they also could have chromosome
: abormalities. But remember there is a
: 50% chance that they could not. Hang
: in there and pray and Our father will
: work it out for the good.
: I thank him for my son and don't know
: what I would do without my son in my
: life. He is 21 now and cannot walk,
: talk, feed himself. He still wears
: diapers, but he can sat up and smile
: and babble and he is spoiled rotten.
: But Hey!! He is joy in my life. Keep
: the faith.
