Hello,
I am at 21 weeks and the amnio results revealed my baby boy has Mosaic Trisomy 22 (Level 3.) I am 40 years old and my husband is 46 years old; we have a healthy 4 year old daughter. Many of you here have so much information, can you help me with these questions?
1) Would it help to get a blood test (taken from the umbilical cord) to see if Tri 22 cells were in the blood? Would this give me a greater indication of the severity of the condition?
2) Does it make sense to get a second opinion, i.e. a second amnio, to confirm the results? Or is the amnio definitive?
3) I am a full-time professional mom, will I have to quit work to care for the baby?
4) How does having a disabled child affect the other siblings in the family?
5) Did most of you find out about the mosaic Trisomy 22 after birth, or did you find out early on (like me) and choose to carry on?
